“Critter Gitters” Celebrate Earth Day
April 22, 2010 will mark 40 years we have celebrated Earth Day. This year join the “Critter Gitter” team who’s found some unique ways to increase their impact on the community. With just a few small changes, you can have a big impact on the environment and Peninsular Pest Control is leading the effort. You can join the “Critter Gitters”!
- Making sure you are using botanical pesticides derived from plant oils to protect your family from pests in your home. The Critter Gitter offers a more natural product which is safe for children and pets.
- Becoming a “Litter Gitter”. Join the Fl. Dept. of Transportation Adopt-a-Highway. Peninsular has been active in this program for nearly 10 years.
- Ensuring your lawn care fertilizer is river friendly, easier on the environment and promotes a healthy lawn. Peninsular Pest Control uses a product which doesn’t just increase the health of plants, it reduces the amount of water needed by nearly 50 percent and helps reduce fertilizer runoff which is better for the health of the St. John River.
- Making sure you take advantage of E-billing. Peninsular has a new website and offers this service to customers. By using this type of service the average household can save 6.6 pounds of paper a year according to Pay It Green Alliance.
- Collecting your junk mail, envelopes or any paper product and make sure it’s recycled. Peninsular Pest Control participates in the Paper Retriever program which recycles paper and provides the proceeds to HabiJax on behalf of the “Critter Gitters”.
- Planning your travel to prevent wasted trips and gas emissions. The “Critter Gitters” have a new software system with GPS mapping to calculate the most efficient routing of its vehicles.
- Donating old cell phones to a charity in the area. Peninsular Pest Control customers are already doing this by leaving their old cell phones for service technicians to collect. Those phones are donated to Hubbard House to be repurposed for emergency use. The “Critter Gitters” have donated more than 400 phones to this local organization for women and children in abusive relationships.
- Support a non-profit in the area by volunteering a few hours a week. The “Critter Gitters” support a number of local non-profits and knows the importance of making a difference in the lives of those in our community.

The Peninsular Termite Inspector is very thorough and awesome (even our dog liked him)!
