JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The cold weather is inviting unwanted guests into homes across Jacksonville -- rodents.
“They’re just like us, they need shelter,” said George Richardson of Peninsular Pest Control.
He told Action News there is an increase in people calling about rodents. Rats and roaches are the biggest problem. They usually find spaces as small as a quarter to sneak inside homes. Rodents can also hide in in plants, which many people bring inside during freezes.
To look for rodents in your home, Richardson says to look out for small, rat droppings. Then, he says, you should set traps.
“You do want to control the rodents because as they continue to gnaw, they can gnaw into wiring and cause fires in homes.”
