The Vice President of Peninsular Pest Control Service Inc., Terry Shepherd, tells Action News it can be a serious problem, "The reason it's gotten the name 'Super Termite', is because the colony is generally eight to ten times larger than our native Subterranean Termites."

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—North Florida is seeing what pest control companies are calling the “Super Termite.”

It’s basically just like the regular Subterrianean Termite however, it’s much more agressive.

The Vice President of Peninsular Pest Control Service Inc., Terry Shepherd, tells Action News it can be a serious problem, “The reason it’s gotten the name ‘Super Termite’, is because the colony is generally eight to ten times larger than our native Subterranean Termites.“Super Termites, is another word for what the actual name is, “Formosan” termite. The insect originally is from China, and came to the United States during World War II through shipping methods.

The bottom line, the insect is treated in the same way regular termites are, and to avoid the problem, make sure you have your home inspected by a licensed pest control company.

I ordered a Wood Destroying Organism report for a real estate closing and you sent out your inspector, Daryl and what a great job he did. You have a fine and dedicated employee!
